My eleventh car was a VL Calais, it had been about a 18 months since I had owned a car, I was living with Olivia and she had a couple of cars, she had a brand new Ford Festiva which got repo’d and then she got a Mitsubishi Colt cheap which we used, we eventually got rid of that as it was a piece of crap that I had to push start far to much, the VL was a nice car, obviously it was aging but it started first pop and drove well, it served me well for a year, right up until some asshat driving one of those glass installer trucks was looking at his phone as he ran into the back of me as I was stationary at the lights, this did not end the car but I soon moved on from it as the back was a little twisted, it did not look to bad from behind but open the boot and you could see the chasis was twisted in the rear.
It would be 2004 that I owned this, easy to remember as it was the year my daughter was born, this was the car I owned at the time of bringing her home from the hospital.
This poor thing was also had some bad luck, it had a sport steering wheel, one night whilst parked in my garage in a unit complex where my unit was one of the rear units someone broke in and stole the sports steering wheel, I had to buy an original VL wheel from a wreckers to be able to drive the car, I still think given the location it was the unit next to me which had a couple of young guys living in it
